April 13, 2010 Montpelier, VT – Business financing opportunities available to Vermont small businesses through the Vermont Economic Development Authority (VEDA) will be one of the featured options showcased at the April 26th Small Business Lending Conference organized by U.S. Senator Patrick Leahy. VEDA is a co-sponsor of the event, along with other public and private local, state and federal lending institutions. Admission to the event is free. The conference will be held on Monday, April 26 from 8.a.m. to 12:30 p.m. at the Barre Auditorium.
“This is an important opportunity for Vermont small businesses to learn about new economic stimulus financing programs,” said Jo Bradley, VEDA’s CEO. “VEDA loan funds are available at unprecedented low interest rates, due in large part to federal stimulus dollars allocated to VEDA by the Vermont Legislature, utilizing American Recovery and Reinvestment Act (ARRA) funds.” Small business loan financing through VEDA is available for a wide variety of economic development projects, Bradley explained. “VEDA is supporting projects in renewable energy, technology, and other business growth plans and innovations across the spectrum of Vermont’s manufacturing, commercial, travel and tourism, and agricultural sectors,” said Bradley. “For those entrepreneurs looking to start a business, and small businesses looking to expand and grow, this event provides a timely one-stop finance shopping opportunity, and VEDA is pleased to be co-sponsoring the event.” Workshops offered at Senator Leahy’s Small Business Lending Conference will enable businesses to hear directly from banks, credit unions, business development specialists, government procurement counselors and other businesses about how to navigate the lending process and how to secure government contracting and bonding opportunities.
In co-sponsoring Senator Leahy’s conference, VEDA is partnering with the Vermont Bankers Association, the Association of Vermont Credit Unions, the Small Business Administration, the Vermont Small Business Development Center, the Vermont Procurement Technical Assistance Center, the Vermont Community Loan Fund, and USDA Rural Development.
